CITIZENS’ CORNER:[Letters to The Editor-POETRY] “Building Backwards”

Building Backwards
Almost everything seemed
devoid of romance
and replaced
with suspicious software.
Hearts diseased from regurgitated
garble,
souls reset with sustainable
lies.
Humans drifting under
a darkened cloud,
anemic to discern malevolence
from good.
Parents programmed
to imperil little ones
at one of the many
test subject spots.
Such was not a new normal
but actually
an updated old one,
programmed in part
by Machiavelli
when inputting
the requirements
of a prince.
Cheryl Sommese possesses a passion for poetry writing. This medium, along with regularly reaching out to Congress, has helped her more effectively challenge the particularly troublesome changes she observes occurring in this nation. Her educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts degree in communication from the University of New Hampshire (Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Kappa Phi, summa cum laude) and a Master of Arts degree in liberal studies (same institution). Ms. Sommese resides in Southern New Hampshire with her husband, Don, and beloved dog, Bella.
